Drinks and dining
The drinks and dining menus are an extension of the hotel’s unique atmosphere
Our chefs have brought Nordic style into the breakfast buffet, where the focus is on local ingredients and Danish flavours. In the bar you will find Danish versions of your favorite cocktails – but don’t worry, they taste even better than the originals. Below, you can read about the food and drinks we serve in the hotel, and why we choose local produce before choosing organic. Looking for lunch or dinner recommendations? Our affiliated restaurants offer tasty food from around the world.
Our New Nordic breakfast buffet is made with carefully selected ingredients that provide distinctive flavors from the local region. We serve bread made from traditional Nordic grains, juices made from seasonal fruits, and award-winning charcuterie and cheeses from sustainable organic farms. We do this because we believe that ingredients should be locally produced, sustainable and delicious, so our guests have good starts to their days with as little impact as possible on our planet.

Sustainable ingredients are not necessarily organic
We care about sustainability in every aspect of the hotel – and breakfast is no exception. We also care about buying organic produce, but still, we choose to prioritize our purchases for the breakfast buffet with the health of our planet in mind. Therefore, we choose not to buy organic apples from Spain and instead buy conventional apples from Denmark with a shorter transportation span.
To make the choice easy for our chefs and to make our position clear for our guests, we have established a few dogma rules for our produce purchases:
- We want to buy local and organic produce.
- If that is not possible, we buy local conventional produce.
- If that can’t be done, we buy imported organic produce.
On top of our dogma rules, we have also chosen to serve some elements of the buffet on small plates, because the eyes sometimes get tempted to take more than the belly can hold. At the same time, we want our guests to leave the breakfast table with a comfortable and saturated feeling.
To limit CO2-emissions, we have chosen to have fewer produce deliveries. By receiving dairy and other items every other day we limit the number of trucks in the city and on the roads.
The Danish label for providing organic food
60-90% of the ingredients in Hotel Kong Arthur’s breakfast are organic, which is why we have achieved the Danish organic silver food label. This means that the produce we use is a little more expensive. We want to support sustainable agriculture without pesticides, and believe that our guests appreciate natural and organic ingredients. However, due to our dogma rules, we are not actively trying to achieve the Danish organic gold food label. This is because we don’t believe the gold food label provides the most sustainable choice, since we would be required to buy imported produce, that has been transported over large distances, leaving a large footprint behind.
Too busy for breakfast?
Busy days are no excuse to skip breakfast. On the contrary you might need an extra kick of energy on the busy days. Order the Grab & Go option if you are too busy for breakfast or have to leave early. For DKK 95 you will get coffee, a bread roll, fresh fruit, and mineral water. Grab & Go is available from 6 to 7.30 am. Order one day in advance at the reception or directly in the breakfast restaurant.
Well-known but with a twist
In the lobby bar you will find a lovely selection of well-known cocktails, but with a twist. Hotel Kong Arthur’s bar uses the very best spirits, tonics, berries, spices, etc. and all ingredients are carefully selected. We base most cocktails on organic, local, or Nordic spirits, while some of the ingredients are sourced from far away if that is what it takes to find the best product. Of course, we also offer wine and beer and we have carefully chosen the best of the best in a number of categories. We make sure to take the sustainability of the products into consideration.
Something salty, something crispy and something umami is the perfect addition to a nice cocktail, beer, or glass of wine. So of course, this is what we offer our guests in the bar. Ask the hosts in the bar what’s available.
If you would like to explore the cuisines of the world, we recommend trying the three restaurants located in the buildings around the hotel. Italian La Rocca, Spanish Pintxos and Japanese Sticks’n’Sushi gives you an opportunity to try something different every night. Please book you reservation beforehand as the restaurants are popular.
La Rocca serves genuine Italian food in an authentic informal setting. The restaurant also offers a selection of exquisite wines and regularly hosts wine tastings. We recommend their charming courtyard on a warm summer evening. The restaurant can accommodate large parties.
